Prabhudeva stepped kollywood as a dance master back a decade and shined well for few years as a leading hero. Later his misfortune did not favour him any good films, which made him move Tollywood. After acting few films in tollywood he directed "Nee vustanante Neenuothanta" featuring Sidharth and Trisha in the lead which was a blockbuster.
Vijay whose style is to act in telugu remakes, watched "Nee vustanante Neenuothanta" and got impressed by Prabhudeva's direction which made vijay to offer a chance for Prabhudeva to direct his film. Prabhudeva being absent in kollywood for few years wanted to utilize this great chance of directing Vijay. As the expectations are high for vijay's film, prabhudeva wants to direct this to the best of all the earlier vijay's film which made him use some scenes of "Style" (telugu film starring lawrence and prabhudeva directed by lawrence). Now starts the issue. Lawrence planned to release "Style" in tamil as "Lakshyam" as the movie is a blockbuster in Tollywood.
Now prabhudeva is worried, because if Lakshyam releases before Pokkiri he will be blammed for using the same style and also there are chances for pokkiri to be flopped. Prabhudeva being a debutant director in tamil, he don't want to take a chance. He asked producer council to send a notice to Lawrence stating he should not release the film for pongal. Shocked lawrence called prabhudeva and asked the reason for this notice and prabhudeva snubbed saying he is not interested to speak.
Annoyed Lawrence, gave a statement to one of the leading tamil magazine:
"Me and Prabhudeva were very good buddies and i never expected Prabhudeva will behave like this. Now i have decided not to act with him nor keep in touch with him henceforth. Anyway my film 'Lakshyam' is releasing for Pongal."
