Ajith's brimming previous bulging hits like "Valalaru" and Tirupathy fetched him to remain a star on the horizon of 2006. Getting down from the crane of hot seat unfortunately luck has been little unfair to his this years career with not so good start. His latest release Aazhwar says it all more to be depressing than whimsical pandering to the lowest common denominator, the wannabe circle fest barely evokes a glitter. Coaxing you for three-hour party of carnival night, Director Chella is not gospel speller to mince the best picking his ropes from his mentor Director S.J.Suryah to hold the pulse of the audience.
Post interval the movie has tried to manage to make mendiculously sit for Ajith's burning performance appearing in form of various deitys finishing off group of baddies and often muttering when questioned Who he is? His only divine reply is "Naan Kadavul" which clearly certifies that he is forced by his predecessor to deflate the ego of ace Director Bala as "Naan Kadavul" was initially Ajith's shelved project. Looks like the Director would have thought this could be the mantra for holy dip.
The story narrates about the character of Aazhwar(Ajith),straight as prim, lovable to his mom and kid sister who are soon taken away by thugs. No doubt Aazhwar the most pious priest takes on a incarnation of Rudra who destroys the ogres even though working as a ward boy in the mortuary. Shiva sets on a revenge machine to fight against sheer injustice by punishing the evils in godly forces. At scourge he transforms into Narasimha and terminates the devil incarnates. Touched with definetly not todays trend with wafer thin story line and loose script it fails to reach the audience heart. Though seeing Ajith's enigmatic performance with his usual aplomb the intensity in the director lacks the film's sheen.
Among the other star cast in the movie is Asin's adequate support and her ironic look blends well with combination of Vivek's endearing comic acts. Music and Camera work are nothing much to write about. Two racy duets picturised on Ajith and Asin is well shot. The director has tried nothing new to leave an impact infact the smutty situation, gross-out routines gags us to keep off from the seat bealts.
Verdict : Bore to the core
